Pricing
Please keep in mind my rate is $85 – $100 an hour (depending on the task being performed) and for hourly jobs I can only provide estimates, not absolute quotes.
SEO usually takes 6 hours a month. Less hours per month can be negotiated but pricing remains at current hourly rates. You may also need to start with the reports outlined on this page, which will be an initial investment before hourly, monthly work begins. Not all cases need all reports. Please be in touch to discuss this further.
Web site projects can range between $3,500 to $10,000 depending on the extensiveness of a project (could be lower or higher, but chances are your site will need around $3,500 to $4,500 for the ‘typical’ project scope). I only work with WordPress. For e-commerce sites, or other functionality and features the rate can be on the higher end of the aforementioned range. I only work with WooCommerce.
If you need me to do hourly work on your WordPress site for small fixes or additions, please keep in mind you must have a backup system in place (e.g. VaultPress or BackupBuddy), before I can work on your site. Do not send me login info to your site when describing your situation, especially not until you have a backup system in place! Also see the note below.
Writing can take 2 – 4 hours for 500 – 900 words but actual time and cost always depends on the subject and research needed to complete the project. Some projects can even take 8 hours, if they are very complex, or require a lot of detailed research and documentation.
Internet marketing consulting is also at $85 an hour and done via Skype. We can schedule an initial 1 hour call to go over a possible strategy, to teach you a few things about WordPress and SEO or to answer other questions you have about internet marketing. From there we can decide the best route to move forward.
Note: consulting is not the same as engaging in a sales process with me to determine what you need of my services. I don’t charge for that. The fee for consulting is when I’m giving advice and instructions, etc. for you to do things on your own, or before you’re ready to commit to a long-term service with me. Also know that consulting does not come with a pre-planned curriculum or agenda, or any promised outcome. It is more like ‘table talk’ where I advise you on things as they come up in our conversation.
The best way to get in touch…
I’m really an e-mail person more than a phone person, and next to e-mail I like meeting people via Skype :) Send me your Skype username via e-mail if you have one and would like to chat there!
Note: to reach me on the phone, please email to schedule a time, or send me your number so I can get back to you! Thanks!
Do you need work or fixes done on your existing site?
You should know that when I work on an existing site, it is very hard to give an accurate estimate of how long things would take. My work is billed by the hour at $85 an hour. When it’s a site I didn’t build, especially if was built by someone who didn’t have a lot of knowledge, or who chose ‘lazy’ practices to build your site, I can often find a lot of problems when looking through the site.
Sometimes these need to be addressed before I can do my work, so the cost can increase without us knowing in advance. Sometimes it can also mean that I can’t really help you in a valuable way without re-doing your site from scratch (meaning the time and budget investment would not be worth the payoff for you). I’m not saying this is the case with ALL sites I didn’t build myself – I’m just saying I won’t know, and it’s hard to predict these circumstances in advance.
I would need you to be ok with this, and also to get me a budget you had in mind so I can tell you if I would be a good fit for you.
