This site was done in partnership with a designer, who hired me as a Vancouver WordPress web developer for this project.
The mission of this WordPress website redesign was to help the transition of a psychologist who was branching out on her own after being part of a joint practice for years. Sure enough, the old site needed some help, and there was A LOT of content to be transferred onto a new design. Of course, that content needed to be effectively organized and displayed throughout the site.
This psychologist is a writer at the Vancouver Sun and makes media appearances on Radio and such as well. So for her, being able to update content in an easy way was important. That’s why we automated the process by using Genesis Featured Posts widgets on the home page. This way, she would not need to know HTML to make updates to her home page every time she put up a new column article.
The doctor also needed subheadings to display information about each article and the day it was published in print. So we installed a WordPress widget that could do that for her easily. Now she only needs to fill in a sub-heading field below the title field, in the regular WordPress editor.
Finally, another neat Web site customization we did with this site was to use the Genesis Simple Hooks plugin. This allowed us to have different images appear at the top of category archive pages. This way, each blog category could have it’s own unique look and feel, the way Dr. Newman wanted it.
Now for the fun part! Here are the before and after photos of her site:
